Innovative Interfaces, a leading provider of library automation software that empowers libraries globally, is pleased to announce the University of London Senate House Libraries in the United Kingdom have selected Sierra with Encore Duet discovery as their new cloud-based library solution.
The University of London Senate House Libraries has one of the world’s most significant collections in the arts, humanities, and social sciences, formed when the Senate House Library and the School of Advanced Study (SAS) Libraries came together. Eight independent libraries within the SAS Libraries will also use Sierra and Encore Duet to serve national research communities, including:
• Institute of Advanced Legal Studies Library;
• Institute of Classical Studies Library;
• Institute of Historical Research Library;
• The Warburg Institute Library;
• Heythrop College, University of London;
• The University of London Institute in Paris;
• The Wallace Collection;
• The hosted catalogue of the Bibliographical Society.
On behalf of all the libraries, Senate House Library led a rigorous procurement process for a proven next-generation solution, built on open systems architecture that is flexible, scalable, and optimised for long-term performance. By selecting Sierra, the academic institutions will have access to robust APIs to share data and seamlessly integrate third-party products into the library’s existing systems. With Innovative’s cloud platform, the Senate House Libraries will also streamline current workflows, reduce overhead costs, and increase staff efficiencies.
“As a long-standing library automation vendor, Innovative understands the needs and workflows of academic libraries,” said Richard Warren, Associate Director of Information Systems at Senate House Library. “With local support from their UK-based office, and a modern search interface that offers real-time integration, our staff looks forward to implementing Sierra this year.”
The Senate House Libraries have also selected Encore Duet, a completely integrated discovery solution that blends books, eBooks, digital collections, institutional repositories, and articles, including comprehensive full-text powered by EBSCO Discovery Service. Additionally, the libraries have invested in Decision Center, Innovative’s comprehensive collection management and analytics solution. Offering in-depth analytics and reporting, the libraries will receive timely recommendations for budgeting, selecting, weeding, transferring, and shelving allocation to create quality customer-driven collections.
“It’s great to see the University of London Senate House Libraries continue to excel as our partner, and the value Sierra brings as a cloud-based solution for academic institutions in the United Kingdom,” said Bill Schickling, Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing at Innovative. “We believe academic libraries are much more successful executing their strategic visions for the future as Innovative partners, especially as we continue to deliver new functionality with our next-generation Sierra solution.”
