Hoevelaken, Netherlands, 2016/06/13 - Thales and Unica have signed a performance based contract with the CDC (Commando Diensten Centrum) of the Dutch Ministry of Defence for a new security and surveillance system at approximately 170 locations in the Netherlands - Unica.nl / ThalesGroup.com. Euronext: HO
The system will replace the current more than 45 operational systems used across all parts of the defence organisation. Thales and Unica are equal partners in the contract and will be responsible for the installation, operations and services for a period of 15 years.
Patrice Caine, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Thales: “We are proud of this new contract with the Dutch government and are happy to respond to this challenge with Unica. Our priority is to meet the most demanding requirements of each customer. Thales’s expertise in Defence and Civil domains has allowed us to become, in less than ten years, a global leader in all sectors of the security market such as the protection of critical infrastructures (sensitive and military sites, airports, energy, etc.). Thales develops innovative, scalable solutions, integrating them into existing infrastructures, even the biggest and most complex systems. For example, Thales has provided the largest integrated urban security system in Mexico City, and protects major airports worldwide such as in Dubai or Doha.”
The security and surveillance system integrates access-control, intruder detection and nationwide monitoring and control. The new system lives up to the highest standards in security and simplifies operations and maintenance. It will enable the use of the Rijkspas which can be used for access, authentication and identification.
The local partnership between Thales (thalesgroup.com) and Unica will develop, integrate, install, manage and service the necessary hard- and software for security monitoring and will work together with the Ministry of Defence to manage the services.
John Quist, CEO of Unica: "It is in line with our strategy of acquiring integral assignments that are subject to high requirements. Unica has extensive experience in the field of installing, managing and maintaining security solutions and has held responsibility for security at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam for example. Thales and Unica are excellently suited on a strategic level for the execution of this assignment for the Ministry of Defence. Two separate companies working together and pooling their strengths in different areas in a perfectly complementary fashion that is excellently suited to handling a comprehensive security assignment such as this one.”
Unica - with its 14 branches, 10 specialised companies, 3 regional project firms and around 1850 employees - is the biggest independent technical services provider in the Netherlands. Unica handles sustainable technical solutions for its clients in the field of safety, comfort and communications as well as energy and sustainability.
