Pittsburgh, PA, United States, 2016/03/07 - Nathaniel R. Gomer, Ph.D, Senior Scientist, will give a technical presentation discussing innovative results of the company's work on the detection of drugs and other illicit substances using innovative hyperspectral imaging methods.
ChemImage Sensor Systems (CISS) announced that Nathaniel R. Gomer, Ph.D, Senior Scientist, will give a technical presentation discussing innovative results of the company's work on the detection of drugs and other illicit substances using innovative hyperspectral imaging methods during the 2016 Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy (Pittcon) in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Gomer's presentation entitled,"The Detection of Illicit Drugs and Cutting Agents Using Shortwave Infrared Hyperspectral Imaging" is a part of the "Detection of Illicit Drugs-Half Session" being held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 beginning at 1:30pm. The session will detail the work led by Dr. Gomer to discuss the usage of short-wave infrared (SWIR) hyperspectral imaging for the detection of substances of interest. Dr. Gomer will also preside over the session which includes talks from other leaders in the scientific community.
"Our work on this project takes advantage of the hyperspectral imaging technology developed by ChemImage Sensor Systems to provide significant detection of illicit drugs and other types of cutting agents by analyzing the chemical signature of those substances," said Gomer.
"The work that Dr. Gomer and the rest of the scientific team have done allows us to apply this innovative technology to our VeroVision Mail Screener product that has been very well received in the Corrections industry," said Marie Molnar-Hammond, Vice President of Marketing & Product Development for ChemImage Sensor Systems. "The work of the team to develop and apply our technology continues to allow our company to produce cutting-edge technology that makes the world a safer place."
Pittcon 2016 takes place on March 6 10, 2016 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA. The Pittsburgh Conference is a Pennsylvania not-for-profit educational corporation that is comprised of the Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh (SSP) and the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh (SACP). Pittcon is the world's leading annual conference and exposition on laboratory science. Pittcon attracts more than 16,000 attendees from industry, academia and government from over 90 countries worldwide. Pittcon's roots started in Pittsburgh in 1950 and is managed by a committee of volunteers and a 11-person staff.
