Invenergy, LLC (“Invenergy”), a leader in innovative energy storage solutions, today announced the start of commercial operation of its 3 MW Grand Ridge Energy Storage expansion project in La Salle County, Illinois.
The project is located about 80 miles southwest of Chicago at Invenergy’s Grand Ridge Energy Center, which is comprised of a 210 MW wind farm; a 20 MW solar project; and an existing 31.5 MW and 1.5 MW energy storage units. Grand Ridge Energy Storage Expansion provides fast-response regulation service to the PJM market.

In December 2015, Invenergy’s 31.5 MW Grand Ridge Energy Storage Facility received Power Engineering and Renewable Energy World Magazines’ 2015 Project of the Year Award for Best Renewable Project. The storage facility in October also received Energy Storage North America’s (ESNA) 2015 Innovation Award for Centralized Storage.
In 2015, Invenergy commissioned 63 MW of battery storage projects in the U.S. more than any other developer. The 3 MW Grand Ridge Energy Storage Expansion facility brings Invenergy’s total operating storage capacity to more than 68 MW.
