The organizers of HollyShorts announced today that the work of the Oscar® nominated and Independent Spirit Award winning writer/actor/director Larry Hankin will be showcased during the next installment of the company’s Monthly Screening Series, which takes place on Thursday, March 29 at The Space Theatre in Hollywood. The event begins at 8pm.
Hankin has starred in over 80 television series and over 40 feature films and is best known for his role in Clint Eastwood’s classic “Escape from Alcatraz”, his reoccurring role as Mr. Heckles in the award winning TV sitcom “Friends”, and his role as Tom, the actor who played Kramer in the memorable “Seinfeld”
episode titled “I’m Not Kramer.”
In making the announcement, HollyShorts Monthly Screening Director Daniel Sol said: “Larry Hankin is one of the most engaging filmmakers in Hollywood history and its only fitting that HollyShorts showcase some of his greatest performances and short films at our March Monthly Screening series. It’s exciting to continue bringing high quality, independent filmmaking on a monthly basis to the Hollywood community as we gear up for the third annual HollyShorts, Short Film Festival which takes place this summer.”
The March HollyShorts Monthly Screening series will feature some of Hankin’s most riveting short films including the 1980 Oscar® nominated short “Solly’s Diner,” “Independence,” the IFC Media Lab Independent Spirit Award winning film, “My Uncle Emmett,” a mockumentary which examines Hankin's 60 + year old Uncle Emmett, a mild-mannered, middle-class parking enforcement officer who disappeared without a trace, Two years later he reappears as a bearded, 'Outlaw Biker' riding an 'outlaw' Harley motorcycle. The shorts feature special appearances by some of the most notable actors in Hollywood, including Fred Willard (“Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy”) Howard Hesseman (“Boston Legal”), Jeff Garlin (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”), Jeaneane Garafalo (“Dogma”).
The Space Theatre is located at 665 N. Heliotrope Drive, Hollywood, CA. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door. A reception will immediately follow the screenings with complimentary cocktails. Press passes available for select media.

Submissions are now being accepted for the 3rd Annual HollyShorts, Short Film Festival. The regular deadline is April 27, 2007 and the late deadline is May 25, 2007. All short films must be 30 minutes or under. Categories include Short Live Action, Short Animation, Short Documentary and Student Short. There is a $5 discount for students. Filmmakers are encouraged to submit their short films through Withoutabox online.
