BASF is transferring the operation of its two data centers at the Ludwigshafen site as well as its hub locations and on-site server rooms worldwide to Hewlett Packard Enterprise. This aims to ensure that the services are provided competitively in an environment that is characterized by rapid technological changes. BASF SE and Hewlett-Packard GmbH, a German subsidiary of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, signed a corresponding contract today (December 7, 2015). Hewlett Packard Enterprise is a global provider of IT products and services.
The transaction includes the planned transfer of approximately 100 employees to Hewlett Packard Enterprise, thereof around 80 employees of BASF Business Services GmbH based in Ludwigshafen. The conditions of the transfer have been defined together with the employee representatives. The two data centers, which are currently maintained at the Ludwigshafen site, will be outsourced to the IT provider. BASF will in future use dedicated IT-infrastructure of Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
“Through the transfer of our data centers to Hewlett Packard Enterprise, we will be able to align our services in this field even more flexibly to the requirements of BASF Group and offer them more competitively,” said Dr. Robert Blackburn, President, Information Services & Supply Chain Operations, BASF. “In addition, we will strengthen our cyber security measures with this new model.”
The transfer of the operation with the associated services to Hewlett Packard Enterprise starts in December 2015.
