Hexagon Metrology has announced plans for a spectacular installation at the EMO 2015 event in Milan this October. Continuing its focus on quality automation, the metrology and manufacturing specialist will be demonstrating a number f its products as part of automated systems designed to support factories of the future, and is also promising a world technology premiere during the 6-day event.
For the first time at an Italian show, visitors to the Hexagon Metrology booth will be able to see the latest Leitz SIRIO coordinate measuring machine (CMM). The horizontal-arm measuring machine, equipped with integrated rotary table and tool magazine, can be easily integrated into series production lines and fed by part transfer systems. Also on display at EMO 2015 is the TIGO SF compact shop-floor CMM. With an open structure on three sides which makes it ideal for use with robotic part handling, it will be presented alongside a fully-automatic loading/unloading system.
As well as this integration with robotic part transfer systems, Hexagon Metrology offers six degrees of freedom (6DoF) laser tracker based robotic calibration and guidance solutions capable of turning standard industrial robots into precise and versatile systems for automated applications from inspection to assembly. EMO visitors can see the 6DoF Leica Absolute Tracker AT960 in action, while other portable metrology exhibits include the affordable but accurate Leica Absolute Tracker AT402, as well as a complete range of products from the ROMER Absolute Arm portable measuring arm range.
“CMMs have traditionally been located in protected laboratories or quality rooms,” said Levio Valetti, Marketing & Communications Manager at Hexagon Metrology. “But EMO 2015 is all about building the future. Now we have the ability to offer accurate inspection in tough workshop conditions, we have been able to develop new ways of integrating CMMs into production workflows. By interconnecting with production systems on mechanical, logistical, electronic and IT levels, we can provide actionable information to inform and correct the process and help minimise the risk of producing non-conforming parts.”
EMO 2015 takes place 5-10 October in Milano Rho, and the Hexagon Metrology exhibit can be found in Hall 7, Stand E 19-F09.
