The Bubel/Aiken Foundation was co-founded by Clay Aiken and Diane Bubel in 2003 to serve children with special needs by creating, implementing, and funding programs of inclusion in the social, educational, recreational, vocational, and community settings. By combining his history of working with children with special needs and his degree in special education, Aiken has used his celebrity to further the causes of education and inclusion. Most recently in September 2006, Aiken was appointed by President George W. Bush to be a member of the President's Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities.
“We are looking for additional volunteers to plan events in their own community. You do not need to be a scrapbooker to get involved, you only need the desire to help.” The more volunteers involved the more voices there are to raise awareness.
It is no secret that scrapbooking is one of the fastest growing hobbies in North America and “crops” have become the quilting bees of the new millennium. A Scrapping 4 Inclusion event, through creating awareness and raising funds will help to create new and meaningful memories in the lives of children with and without special needs across North America.
