VMTurbo and Tintri, a leading producer of VM-aware storage (VAS) for cloud and virtualized environments, today announced a partnership to provide customers with improved VM performance and efficiency within Tintri environments. The partnership enables users of both solutions to deliver VM workload SLAs that assure performance and define Quality of Service (QoS) adherence targets. VMTurbo Operations Manager provides automatable actions for business critical applications residing on Tintri VMstore, mitigating resource contention, host, network or local storage latency according to business and performance criteria. The two companies have authored a joint Solution Brief, which contains configuration standards that maximize product compatibility.
“We love Tintri because we’re able to define at a VM level which workloads should be on flash storage and which can run on disk, and we love VMTurbo because it helps us decide where those workloads should live and how they should be configured and sized,” said Johnnie McMillan, Manager of Release and Deployment at Thomson Reuters. “Combining these two solutions, with VMTurbo providing intelligent decisions and Tintri providing its unique VM-aware storage, gives us greater control over our data center in the most efficient way possible.”
“The architecture of modern storage arrays is not designed to handle the challenges presented by large-scale, multi-tenant cloud and virtualized data centers,” said Kieran Harty, CTO and co-founder of Tintri. “By combining VMTurbo’s Demand-Driven Control with Tintri’s VM-aware storage, customers will have greater control over their environments. The partnership enables customers to define QoS targets for business-critical VMs and deliver on specific SLA targets, driving down infrastructure cost and improving overall efficiency in the process.”
Unlike other storage platforms, Tintri VMstore surfaces information on the performance of individual VMs, and allows admins to take every storage action at the VM level.
“We’re excited to partner with Tintri, providing users with a solution to their infrastructure challenges,” said Geeta Sachdev, CMO of VMTurbo. “Customers leveraging Tintri VMstore and VMTurbo Operations Manager will be able to guarantee and protect the performance of their virtual machines. Imminent General Availability of our Software Development Kit will enable Tintri to offer clients customized integration with VMTurbo.”
VMTurbo’s Demand-Driven Control platform for cloud and virtual environments leverages a patented market economy algorithm to conduct Intelligent Workload Management a process of continuous workload sizing, placement and configuration decisions that assures application performance while maximizing resource utilization across the entire infrastructure.
VMTurbo’s Demand-Driven Control platform enables customers to manage cloud and enterprise virtualization environments including OpenStack to assure application performance while maximizing resource utilization. VMTurbo’s patented decision-engine technology dynamically analyzes demand from applications, containers, network and VDI and adjusts configuration, resource allocation and workload placement to meet service levels and business goals. With this unique understanding into the dynamic interaction of demand and supply, VMTurbo (vmturbo.com) is the only technology capable of closing the loop in IT operations by automating the decision-making process to maintain an environment in a healthy state.
The VMTurbo platform first launched in August 2010 and now has more than 40,000 users, including many of the world’s leading money center banks, financial institutions, social and e-commerce sites, carriers and service providers. Using VMTurbo, our customers, including JP Morgan Chase, Salesforce.com and Thomson Reuters, ensure that applications get the resources they need to operate reliably, while utilizing their most valuable infrastructure and human resources most efficiently.
Tintri (tintri.com) builds smart storage that sees, learns and adapts, enabling IT organizations to focus on virtualized applications and business services instead of managing storage infrastructure. Tintri application-aware storage eliminates planning and complex troubleshooting by providing VM-level visibility, control, insight and agility, with all flash performance for virtualized environment and the cloud. Tintri powers hundreds of thousands of virtual machines running business critical databases, enterprise apps, desktops and mobile apps, and private cloud deployments. Tintri helps global enterprises such as AMD, F5 Networks, GE, NEC, NTT, MillerCoors and Time Warner maximize their virtualization and cloud investments.
