The trains will come into service by mid-2016 in Germany, in particular on the oberpfalzbahn network, and in Czech Republic.

The Coradia Lint 41 (alstom.com) is a sophisticated and environmentally friendly low-consumption Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) that can reach a maximum operating speed of up to 140 km/h. The 2-unit trains ordered by Länderbahn have a total of 125 seats and up to 135 places for standing passengers. They offer full accessibility to all passengers, including people with restricted mobility, thanks to barrier-free entrances. The trains feature spacious multi-purpose areas with sufficient storage space for wheelchairs, bicycles and strollers. They are also equipped with air conditioning, passenger information system and video surveillance guaranteeing a high level of passenger comfort and safety. The trains are built in Alstom’s Salzgitter plant in Germany.

“Alstom thanks Länderbahn and Netinera Deutschland for their renewed trust2. The company is confident in the success of this project which has an ambitious schedule in view to manufacture, test and commission the trains in just over one year. With over 780 Coradia Lint sold to 18 operators in Germany, Netherlands, Denmark and Canada, Alstom benefits from an extensive return on experience with a train which proves its value in use every day”, says Didier Pfleger, Vice President of Alstom Transport for Germany and Austria.

“With the Coradia Lint 41 from Alstom, we have a train already homologated and widely used in Germany,” says Gerhard Knöbel, CEO of Regentalbahn AG.

Coradia Lint is part of Alstom’s Coradia range of modular trains that benefit from over 30 years of experience and proven technical solutions. Alstom has sold more than 3,000 of its regional trains.

1. NETINERA Deutschland GmbH is a company of the FS Group, the Italian State Railways and is the second largest private transport authority in Germany.
2. In 2012 at Innotrans, Alstom and Netinera Deutschland GmbH signed a contract for the supply of 63 Coradia Lint which are already in service in Germany.
