Nguyen was named "General Counsel of the Year: General Commercial" at an official awards ceremony on Thursday, June 11 in New York. The awards, in their ninth year, aim to recognize lawyers for their achievements across a full spectrum of in-house responsibility.
The International Law Office, with the support of the Association of Corporate Counsel, conducted in-depth analysis of in-house lawyers and legal departments worldwide for the Global Counsel Awards 2015. Over 4,000 individual nominations from corporate counsel and law firm partners make the Global Counsel Awards unique in clearly identifying those in-house counsel, both teams and individuals, who excel in their specific roles.
Respondents were asked to focus on criteria such as effective communication, legal understanding, commercial awareness, gaps and strength of team, and management skills. No candidate made the shortlist without multiple nominations from senior in-house counsel or law firm partners, and awards were presented only in categories for which more than 200 nominations were received.
Additional nominees throughout the evening included representatives from Apple Inc, United Airlines, Microsoft, Intel Corporation, Ebay Inc. and American Express.
