VMTurbo, the only demand-driven control platform for the software-defined data center, today announced the release of VMTurbo Operations Manager 5.2. This release extends VMTurbo’s patented virtualization and cloud control to Quality of Service (QoS) adherence across every layer of the stack.

“VMTurbo is redefining the delivery of IT services; our users are empowered to confidently deliver Quality of Service and SLA to clients and end-users, so they no longer need rely on outdated baselines, monitoring thresholds, over-reserving valuable infrastructure, or guessing on placement, sizing or configuration decisions,” said Ben Nye, CEO of VMTurbo. “Our latest release provides application and infrastructure owners with the ability to guarantee QoS adherence based on any measure such as response time or latency, so application demand may now drive infrastructure supply in real time.”

In addition, through enhancements to the Network Control Module by adding port buffer control, the network supply dimension, Operations Manager manages the tradeoffs between compute and storage loads and localizing network traffic flow to minimize network latency and prevent packet loss.

Further support into the application layer includes auto-scaling and configuration decisions for Microsoft SQL and Oracle databases. VMTurbo’s Software Development Kit (SDK), initially released in February, has been enhanced enabling customers and partners to build additional mediation for applications and infrastructure resources. Lastly, VMTurbo has enhanced and further contributed to OpenStack including integration with shared block storage (Cinder), enabling organizations to assure workload performance from initial deployment to retirement in their OpenStack Cloud.

Key new benefits of VMTurbo Operations Manager include:

• Define application QoS targets and meet them with real-time decisions to scale up or out as demand fluctuates, without monitoring a threshold, segregating infrastructure or making arbitrary sizing decisions;
• Auto scale up or out taking into account the entire IT stack, resource supply and interdependencies between app servers and databases;
• Dynamically collocate frequently communicating application tiers or microservices to minimize “east to west” latency;
• Shape traffic flow to mitigate buffer overflow risk; and
• Assure workload performance from initial deployment to retirement, enable VM redundancy for HA, run on shared storage and provide tiered service offerings in OpenStack cloud.

“Without understanding of the relationship between workload demand and infrastructure supply, the virtual environment can’t be controlled in a state in which application performance is assured,” said Shmuel Kliger, President and Founder of VMTurbo. “By extending our control platform to include application QoS dimension as well as the network supply dimension our latest release provides our customers greater control to deliver the services required by the business and the performance required by mission-critical applications.”

On May 21, 2015, VMTurbo will be hosting a live webinar on the launch of latest VMTurbo Operations Manager with QoS Adherence. To learn more, register for the webinar.
