Mitel®, a global leader in business communications, announces in cooperation with its implementation partner Damovo, that they have won the VERA IP telephony framework contract for local governments in the province of Flemish Brabant. This means Damovo will equip the various local governments with Mitel’s VoIP solutions.
The tender for the IP telephony framework contract was issued by VERA; an organization that assists several districts; in addition to police and social services (within the Flemish-Brabant region) with the implementation of e-government initiatives. This framework gives local authorities the opportunity to purchase or lease a VoIP telephone environment over a period of 3 years, with 2 possible renewals of 1 year each.
Integrator Damovo succeeded in winning the framework contract with a proposal that focussed exclusively on Mitel MiVoice Business. This business phone and Unified Communications system meets all the communication needs of small and large organizations (from 5 to 65,000 users). By using several of the standard MiVoice business features and applications, organizations can now optimize the performance of their employees and improve services to customers. MiVoice Business is a flexible, easy to manage and easily deployed platform. An administrator can centrally manage multiple MiVoice Business systems (spread over different locations) through a Web browser.
Participating agencies or members of the Vera partnership can subscribe to the framework contract, whilst remaining independent from VERA. This will include various associations in Flemish Brabant, as well as the local authorities (including, public schools, fire services, police, cultural centers, community centers, libraries and local governing bodies). In total, there are 116 public organizations in the province of Flemish Brabant who may subscribe to this framework contract.
"Communication with the public has changed dramatically in recent years, partly due to the introduction of new technologies. We are confident that with this proposed solution, we can help the various authorities in Flemish Brabant to make contact with their customers a more effective process whilst also improving the implementation of e-government,"says Joop Jansen Managing Director of Damovo.
On May 5, VERA organizes an information session in Leuven to explain the benefits of VoIP telephony and the framework contract. Interested local government organizations located in Flemish Brabant can register online.
The Flemish Brabant Centre for Informatics VERA (vera.be) carries out externally oriented IT policy of the Province of Flemish Brabant and is aimed at improving the functioning government for individuals, associations and companies. VERA supports local governments of Flemish Brabant by coordinating cooperation in the implementation of e-government. VERA makes consultation, cooperation and knowledge possible to avoid organizations to go through the same routes.
The time and resources which thereby releases, can be used to make better use of ICT in the implementation of the local policy. This enables control by the same means to achieve better services.
