Portland, OR, United States, 2015/02/16 - Luminous Journeys announces its new Bali & Myanmar photo tours for the 2015-16 Fall/Winter season. This season's line-up offers five photo tours in total, four in Burma / Myanmar and one on the islands of Bali, Lembongan & Java, Indonesia.
David Lazar's "Luminous Bali" teams the multi-major award winning travel photographer with Indonesian master, Rarindra Prakarsa. From the hidden treasures of 'secret' Bali to the seaweed farmers of Lembongan to the sulfur miners of Java's otherworldly Ijen Volcano to an underwater shoot off Menjangan, this is a Bali photo tour that breaks 'new ground' almost on a daily basis. "We researched, designed and tested the itinerary from start to finish," said Lazar,"and were amazed at our own amazement! People are going to be blown away by what we have in store for them." Luminous Bali runs October 2 - 15, 2015.
"Festival of Festivals: Golden Triangle Edition", is an entirely new Myanmar photo tour designed & led by the two most popular and awarded photographers in the country. Kyaw Kyaw Winn is a 3-time Myanmar Photographer of the Year and executive editor of Digital Photography magazine, Burmese edition. A.P. Soe is the only 2-time Garuda award winner ever, as well as a contributor to National Geographic.
As the tour name indicates, three colorful festivals are featured on the itinerary, including the Festival of Lights in Mandalay & the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda Festival on Inle Lake. In addition to Myanmar's Big 4 iconic destinations, which includes the 2,220 strong temple-scape of ancient Bagan, the tour also ventures to the remote Golden Triangle to photograph its diverse tribal peoples and stunning rice terraces at their peak. Festival of Festivals runs October 17 - 31, 2015.
"Luminous Myanmar - Journey to the Lost City", with National Geographic contributor David Lazar, mounts an expedition to the Lost City of Mrauk U. This includes a river journey to three remote Chin tribes, whose practice of facial tattooing as a form of inter-tribal branding is dying out.
The Burma photo tour also includes Yangon & Shwedagon Pagoda, Mandalay, Bagan & Inle Lake. Ongoing image review plus David Lazar's photoshop tips & tricks are available along the way to all those interested. Luminous Myanmar runs December 6 - 19, 2015.
"Photographers Gone Wild, Encore!" is a semi-reprise Kyaw Kyaw Winn's wildly successful 2014 original. In addition to Myanmar's Big 4 iconic locations, highlighted by the fantastically photogenic Ananda Pagoda Festival in Bagan, the 3-time Myanmar Photographer of the Year returns to remote & storied Chin State to help you document the vanishing “tattoo tribes”. Photographers Gone Wild runs January 12 - 25, 2016.
"Iconic Myanmar - Inside Access" is more than a classic Myanmar photo tour featuring unique insider access brought to you by the fun loving brilliance of A.P. Soe. For the first time ever, a Burmese woman photographer will be working a full length photo tour. “Soe Myanmar”, a rising star in her own right, has been leading day tours for years and is now ready to step up to the big time.
It should be noted that Iconic Myanmar is shorter in duration than the usual Luminous Journeys offering, while staying in more modest hotels. Photo Tours director Bennett Stevens said of the change,"Even though our longer, 4 & 5 star photo tours are priced one to three thousand dollars less than the competition, we wanted to respond to the segment of the market who prefers a lower cost, less lengthy trip, and doesn't mind staying in clean 2 & 3 star hotels. It's our most affordable photo tour ever, while still maintaining the high integrity of the overall photographic experience." Iconic Myanmar - Inside Access runs February 10 - 20, 2016.
