I am disabled. My life consists of sitting in front of a computer to have any kind of social life. I'm sure I am not alone in this situation. Fortunately for me I discovered internet radio. It gave me an outlet to interact socially and have a voice.
Through this venue I was able to make lots of new friends. Through the magic of the internet it has given me a new life. Now my life is being taken away by some greedy corporations with the help of an indifferent Copyright Royalty Board that do not care who gets hurt. This is an injustice not only to me, but the internet broadcast community, all the citizens that listen to them and to every disabled person out there that finds comfort with this medium.
Why take what little life we as disabled citizens have? It's so unfair. Words can't express the feeling of loss I have now knowing my life is being taken away in the name of greed. As I write this I can't stop the overwhelming emotional pain. The little piece of life I have is being yanked away. This is just wrong, very wrong. Does the Copyright Royalty Board not care who's life they destroy or who may suffer from their decisions. Perhaps they should take another look. I can promise you I went to savenetradio.org and sent a message to my congressman.
I hope everyone in the united states does to. I was so happy with the internet radio amber alert system that was announced last month. It gave even more reach to the existing amber alert system and gave my life meaning as it's creator and operator. Even that will be gone with this legislation. If there are no internet stations there's no one to broadcast the alerts. What childs life may have been saved because of this alert system. We may now never know. How could you even think of that? I as many others am very disappointed with this decision. It removes so many positive things in the name of money.
