TLC, a leading supplier of integrated library systems and services, has announced a partnership with Quipu Group. This integration will make library implementation of Quipu Group’s eCARD patron registration and verification service simple and efficient, with the use of updated CARL•X web service API offerings. Using address verification and standardization, eCARD is able to grant or block registration based on address data. An additional feature of eCARD is its self-service patron registration interface, which not only allows for greater patron privacy, but also frees up library staff. Using real-time registration, verified patrons can begin using their new account immediately. Library card registration can also be done remotely, for added patron convenience.
Over the years, CARL•X customers have enjoyed access to its full suite of APIs and can now take advantage of Quipu Group’s eCARD online patron registration and verification service. TLC and Quipu Group worked closely together in the development of the full-featured Patron Services APIs that allow for a seamless hand-off of data from an online form to the eCARD product, which validates and standardizes addresses, then submits the page to be processed through the CARL•X system. "The new TLC CARL•X API, with its expanded functionality, offers an improved online patron registration experience for Los Angeles Public Library and its patrons,” states Robert Anderson of Quipu Group. “TLC staff were extremely responsive, answering questions and providing any help we needed; now we are moving forward with updating the Contra Costa County Library and the Solano, Napa and Partners Library Constortium, also CARL•X customers."
The eCARD project bolsters TLC’s commitment to providing and supporting reliable and well- documented APIs without additional costs to libraries or their third-party developers. CARL•X is a true “open system” using web service access protocols that result in a greater variety of integration options. Paul Leppert, Vice President and Managing Director of TLC's Denver Operations, sees the addition of the eCARD API as an essential part of its continuing effort to make registration easy for patrons, and to improve staff efficiencies for the CARL•X customer base. “We are pleased to continue our long- standing relationship with Quipu Group. As their company develops for libraries using various ILS systems, our partnership is invaluable for ensuring that we are offering the best of breed integration APIs.”
