During the Content and Communications World conference last week, 360 Systems formally announced its latest product in the broadcast video server class, its fourth-generation video server, the TESERA-4200 Multi Format Video Server.
“The new TESERA-4200 Multi Format Video Server continues to advance the progression of broadcast video servers, from the original image server, and the more recent MAXX servers, by adding many new advanced features demanded by today’s broadcasters,” said Alan Jermagian, Head of Operations for 360 Systems. “And as always, the TESERA maintains the quality, reliability and robustness found in all 360 Systems products.”
“Our new product was met with an overwhelmingly exciting response from the attendees,” stated Robert Nilo, 360 Systems East Cost Sales Manager and show attendee. “They were excited about a broadcast video server with TESERA’s outstanding feature set and competitive price point.”
Available in early 2015, the new features will include the ability to select SD or HD input or output resolutions on a per-channel basis. Users will also have the ability to include SD and HD content in the same playlist, as the system will output the correct format by up/down/cross converting on-the-fly.
A base set of well-established codecs such as MPEG-2 and H.264 will be provided as a standard feature of the server, as well as support for .mxf, .mp4, .mpg, and .mov file formats, allowing for ease of file transfer between NLEs and other systems within a file-based workflow. This will also reduce or eliminate the need for time-consuming transcoding.
The new system will also include the ability to overlay graphic elements, as well as provide advanced scheduling for record and playout. The TESERA server series will also be field upgradable as new features become available.
