Dutch-Cape Verdean Zouk songstress, Suzanna Lubrano will launch her promotional tour on Sunday, March 11th at the legendary S.O.B.’s venue in NYC. Suzanna will be performing her big hits such as “Tudo Pa Bo” and “Nha Sonho” as well as premiering an impressive range of new music from her upcoming album scheduled to be released spring 2007.
Over the past 20 years, SOB’s has become a highly respected oasis for global music and fine cuisine. Performing at such a historical place where legends from Tito Puente to KRS-One have entertained is both an honor and privilege for Lubrano. She’ll be backed by a full band of prominent instrumentalists whom have toured with world music greats like Cesaria Evora and Maria DeBarros. This event is the brainchild of Pa Nos Productions whose aim is to give the diverse S.O.B.’s audience a complete experience into the Cape Verde islands through music, food and culture. Other cities in Suzanna’s promotional tour include Boston, Providence, and Houston, TX.
After winning the title for Best Female Artist of Africa and Best Female Artist of West Africa at the 2003 Kora Music Awards, Suzanna has since become one of the most demanded female singers within the Afro-Portuguese community. She has performed world wide from Cairo to Norway. Often known as the Queen of Cabo Zouk, Suzanna’s sound can best be described as a mix of Zouk and R&B. Most of her songs are in Cape Verdean Criolu which is closely related to the Portuguese language.
Suzanna has signed a record deal with Boston based Mass Appeal Entertainment, which has distribution through Universal Music Group’s Fontana Distribution. Mass Appeal Entertainment owner and producer Marcus Siskind has worked with artists such as platinum selling group, Backstreet Boys and numerous R&B artists in the industry. With a large respect for the music of Cape Verde, Marcus saw the substantial fan base Suzanna already had and wanted to present an opportunity to broaden it. “Suzanna is an extremely talented artist at the forefront of Cape Verdean music. She continues to evolve artistically and I speak for everyone at Mass Appeal when I say that we are extremely excited to be a part of Suzanna’s career, and look forward to furthering her music and the bringing the Cape Verdean culture to the masses”.
