The first of Air Canada’s Boeing 787 Dreamliners entered into service in May 2014.
Under this agreement, MRO services for Air Canada’s 787 electric brakes, including LRUs, will be exclusively provided by subsidiary MBD Wheels and Brakes Repair and Services, (formerly MBT Repair) through its repair location in Milwaukee, WI.
This selection adds the 787 to the Air Canada’s current fleet of 30 Boeing 767 aircraft equipped with Messier-Bugatti-Dowty brakes.
Alan Butterfield, VP, Maintenance and Engineering of Air Canada said,“Messier-Bugatti-Dowty carbon brakes have consistently proven their endurance on our 767 long-haul routes. This track record, combined with the weight savings and superior performance offered by the MBD 787 electric brake, were the decisive factors in our selection.”
Vincent Mascré, Chairman and CEO of Messier-Bugatti-Dowty, added,“Supporting entry into service of a new fleet is a privilege that we take very seriously. Messier-Bugatti-Dowty is fully committed to delivering the necessary level of support required by Air Canada.”
Based on the Sepcarb® III OR carbon composite material offering proven endurance, Messier-Bugatti-Dowty electric brakes deliver weight savings while retaining excellent thermal capacity, higher dispatch reliability, simplified maintenance and longer service life. They are not only lighter than competing products, but are also designed to deliver more landings per overhaul.
Air Canada is among twenty 787 customers who have signed up for Messier-Bugatti-Dowty electric brakes, and the 10th to enter into operations. Messier-Bugatti-Dowty also supplies the main and nose landing gears for all Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
Messier-Bugatti-Dowty has also expanded its relationship with Air Canada on other products and services. MBD’s MRO division maintains and overhauls landing gears for Air Canada’s A319/A320 fleet.
