Douglassville, PA, United States, 2007/02/22 - Healthworks, Inc., and Sinclair Community College have entered into a collaborative agreement whereby Healthworks will license its catalog of online educational programs and resources to Dayton, Ohio-based Sinclair Community College.
Healthworks, Inc., and Sinclair Community College have entered into a collaborative agreement whereby Healthworks will license its catalog of online educational programs and resources to Dayton, Ohio-based Sinclair Community College. Sinclair will deliver these programs to its audience of healthcare personnel working in invasive and non-invasive cardiology, electrophysiology and radiology settings, such as cardiac catheterization labs. This relationship provides Sinclair with a number of targeted clinical education programs that will appeal to its growing number of registered online users, including radiologic and cardiovascular technologists, as well as nursing professionals working in hospitals and group practices.
The collaborative efforts of Healthworks and Sinclair Community College reflect the rapid adoption and use of imaging technology used by cardiologists in both diagnostic and invasive settings. For instance, the volume of cardiac catheterization procedures performed in the US has grown nearly 17% between 1998 and 2003, with an estimated 3.85 million procedures being administered in more than 2,000 cath labs each year. This growth has translated into a need for technical professionals to be cross-trained and educated to meet rising patient care demand.
The relationship also points to the growing use of online learning tools and resources by allied health professionals, many who are required to attend and/or complete a number of accredited continuing education programs per year in order to maintain professional registration, credentials and/or licenses.
“Sinclair Community College’s significant commitment to helping educate technical personnel so they can perform at their best is clearly demonstrated through this partnership,” said Keith R. Chamberlain, CEO of Healthworks’ professional development and education division. “Providing online courses to Sinclair Community College’s customers who are actively expanding their invasive cardiac knowledge ultimately translates into better patient care.”
Sinclair Community College’s clinical online education portal is considered a pioneer, having established a dedicated online resource of continuing programs for allied health professionals since 2001. “Sinclair is dedicated to educating health professionals, helping them deepen and expand their clinical knowledge so they may provide the best in patient care,” said Denise Moore, MS, RT®, professor of radiologic technology and director of the Sinclair Online Continuing Education Program. “Our agreement with Healthworks expands our selection of comprehensive programs and assists the college in meeting its core mission of providing quality learning opportunities for individuals and supporting the learning needs of the workforce community.”
