York, North Yorkshire, United Kingdom, 02/21/2007 - A group of Year 11 pupils at a Manchester school has just published their interview with Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson on the online schools radio network Radiowaves.

The pupils prepared a list of interesting and thought provoking questions for Sir Alex and then recorded, produced and uploaded the interview themselves.
Salford City Academy’s station is called SCAR and it can be accessed and listened to by anyone using the internet. In the extensive interview Sir Alex fields questions on his life and his management career including motivating players, his son’s new management job, selling Ruud Van Nistleroy, when Manchester United came calling, and even some of his darker moments at the Club.
From Supporter to Reporter!
Topics on Radiowaves are as diverse as its user base with plays, book reviews, school projects, and interviews to name but a few. Many of its users have found the resource a great platform to produce something creative and academic in honour of the team or sport they follow. Publishing game reports and interviews on their stations has often meant that they’ve gained access to those they wouldn’t normally encounter if they weren’t running a radio station! Being young, they also get to ask the questions that official journalists never normally dare ask.
Social Networking Revolution
In an age of self publishing with sites such as Bebo and MySpace making both good and bad headlines, Radiowaves is ensuring it remains an entirely safe platform for young people’s creativity. Radiowaves stations can only be created through schools, youth clubs and associated organisations for young people, and content can only be published with the approval of a designated administrator. Many shows and programmes (including the Sir Alex Ferguson interview) can also be downloaded as Podcasts and played on MP3 players.
