Greenwood Village, CO, United States, 2014/05/06 - The State of Nevada Gaming Control Board selected Ciber’s® Application Development and Management practice to migrate existing data into a new, Ciber-designed custom solution - CIBER.com. NYSE: CBR
In an effort to modernize its mission-critical HP Open VMS Alpha Systems, the State of Nevada Gaming Control Board selected Ciber’s® Application Development and Management practice to migrate existing data into a new, Ciber-designed custom solution. As a global IT consulting company, Ciber earned this opportunity based on its 40 years of custom application development experience, modernization tools and code accelerators. Additionally, Ciber already has long-standing engagements underway with other State of Nevada agencies.
The new Gaming Control Board system will house records required to monitor all gaming organizations within the state. “We anticipate that our new system will provide enhanced capabilities that will aid the Board in efficiently managing regulatory reporting and compliance, as well as day-to-day operations,” said A.G. Burnett, Chairman, State of Nevada Gaming Control Board. “This is not a one-to-one modernization of a legacy system, but rather a disciplined redevelopment of the system to maintain vital records while providing new functionality.”
Working with Ciber will be 23rd Century, LLC, a company that offers a system-modernization tool that converts legacy-system software code into modern, objected-oriented code. Using this tool, Ciber and 23rd Century will be able to efficiently migrate code, which will then be validated against State of Nevada requirements and further developed to incorporate new requirements from the state.
Ciber’s role as prime contractor includes project management, development of system requirements, design documents and custom applications, as well as user acceptance testing and support during system rollout. Ciber also will manage migration of existing data from the legacy system and incorporation of data from other disparate external data sources.
“Along with code accelerators, we’ll be using the Ciber .NET Enterprise Framework to jumpstart our application development by using time-tested, reusable code,” said Brian Haskett, Ciber vice president and head of the Application Development and Management practice. “Our adaptable framework gets clients up and running without the significant time and effort typically required to create application plumbing and enterprise components. I believe we were chosen for both our unique tools and skill, and I’m glad we can deliver them with great value.”
