Columbia, MO, United States, 2007/02/18 - NEST is the Network of Emergency Satellite Technicians, a extended group of satellite technicians specifically trained to respond to communication needs during crisis situations utilizing state-of-the-art satellite technology.
Greg Heifner, of Orbital Data Net, Inc. has announced the formation of a new organization; NEST. The Network of Emergency Satellite Technicians, ia a extended group of satellite technicians specifically trained to respond to communication needs during crisis situations, utilizing state-of-the-art satellite technology.
This highly skilled network has the knowledge and training to aid local law enforcement, rescue agencies and emergency management agencies in the rapid deployment of mobile satellite telecommunications equipment. Access to specialized bandwidth and hardware is also provided through this network, with the emphasis on teaming. Utilizing the principal of “swarming” that electrical lineman from neighboring states have adopted after a hurricane or ice storm, properly trained satellite technicians will provide a similar approach to restoration of emergency communication services after a disaster.
"When everything is broken after a disaster, it is the area’s satellite communication specialist that the community can count on to provide emergency communication services," Greg Heifner of ODN says. "By teaming together, satellite dealers, have the ability to provide voice and data connectivity that is both interoperability and unparalleled. The NEST philosophy is to immediately fit satellite-based equipment to the current telecommunications infrastructure seamlessly and without issues when called upon."
Heifner plans to follow the launch of this nationwide network with multi-level training in all applicable satellite technologies. Specialized bandwidth, as well as proprietary equipment created by Orbital Data Net (orbitaldata.net), will also be made available.
With decades of experience in satellite, Orbital Data Net, formerly Heifner Communications, has specialized in fixed and mobile emergency satellite communication systems, and has just finished building the emergency satellite network for the State of Louisiana, Department of Public Safety.
The first meeting of NEST will be at the upcoming Satellite and Broadband Expo, April 18 - 21st in Atlanta, GA.
