NewswireToday - /newswire/ - Marion, NC, United States, 02/16/2007 - Radio Amber, an internet radio Amber Alert System has been launched.

This service is available to all internet radio stations. Currently the service will automate playing audio Amber Alerts for internet broadcasters using the popular Sam Broadcaster program. Additionally the service allows any broadcasting member to download the audio file and play it manually. Work is in progress to automate the service into other widely used broadcasting programs.

This system breaks the barriers of amber alerts being heard only locally as internet broadcasts reach hundreds of thousands of listeners all over the world. Currently there will be audio alerts for the US and Canada. Radio Amber has future plans to integrate other countries that have an amber alert type system in place which would create an international alert system. If we can receive the alert we can record it and it can be broadcasted by stations in that region. Stations will be able to broadcast alerts specific to their country/region.

The service was created and founded by Paul Philbeck owner of RadioNC Online an internet radio station, to provide a public service from the internet radio community to their listeners and expand the reach of amber alerts in general. The service is funded by donations and sponsors, keeping it a free service. Radio Amber has plans to turn this system into an international alert system due to the reach of internet radio stations encompassing worldwide listeners. Paul is quoted as saying "To my knowledge an alert system of this scale has not been attempted. I believe this will open a new era in internet broadcasting bringing us forward in the media arena."
