Openet, a global leader of real-time transaction management software and services, today announced that it has entered into an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) agreement with VoltDB, the world’s fastest high-velocity database.
As the telecom industry evolves to meet the ever-increasing demand for data, operators are increasingly expanding their investment in virtual environments, including within their Network Function Virtualization (NFV) initiatives. VoltDB expands Openet’s deployment options within such environments.
VoltDB’s in-memory database technology is ideally suited to address operators’ real-time, elastically scalable processing requirements, such as peak load management, within virtualized environments.
“Openet is constantly working to expand options for operators as they evolve their infrastructure to enable increased agility and lower total cost of ownership,” said Joe Hogan, CTO and Founder at Openet. “Adding support for VoltDB’s database technology expands our deployment options as virtualized environments become increasingly important to the world’s largest operators.”
“The mobile space may be the best example of how much the volume and velocity of big data has increased in recent years, prompting vendors to seek new ways to manage that data and, more importantly, to capitalize on it,” said Bruce Reading, VoltDB CEO. “Our work with Openet is making it possible for service providers to leverage any and all combinations of data consumption to make intelligent, automated decisions in real-time.”
Since the introduction of mobile data services in 1998, Openet (openet.com) has helped service providers capitalize on opportunities and overcome challenges. With competitive pressure accelerating, today's service providers rely on Openet software to evolve business models around networking smartphones, M2M devices and third party services. Openet’s portfolio combines policy and charging control with device and third party interaction to enable innovative charging models, to control operating cost and to personalize services. More than 80 of the world’s largest service providers in 30 countries use Openet’s high performance software.
Openet has helped operators worldwide take advantage of growth opportunities by evolving legacy platforms to provide a flexible, real-time charging/OCS capability integrated with policy control (PCC).
