SAS, one of the world's largest independent software makers, once again confirmed its reputation as a top employer in Germany. The company, with German headquarters in Heidelberg, placed second in the latest ranking of "Best Employer in ICT 2014," in the category of 100-500 employees. The employer rankings for the German IT industry is presented by the research and consultancy Great Place to Work® Institute.
According to BITKOM, the number of open IT positions across the overall German economy was as high as 39,000 in September 2013. As a result, companies are intensifying their efforts to win and retain employees over the long term. For SAS, however, such efforts are nothing new. Job satisfaction has been the spotlight since the company's founding in 1976.
Recently, the company was voted # 2 on the Fortune list of "Best Companies to Work For in the U.S.” and #2 in the global survey of " World's Best Multinational Workplaces," both from the Great Place to Work Institute. With a unique corporate culture that emphasizes individual development and flexibility in accommodating the realities of employees’ lives, SAS stands apart compared to the frequent turnover otherwise typical for IT.
"We at SAS see a fundamental relationship between job satisfaction and business success. An environment of fairness, communication and flexibility helps ensure that employees enjoy coming to work in the morning. To create this environment and to adapt again and again is one of our most important tasks," explains Wolf Lichtenstein, CEO DACH region at SAS and SAS CEO Germany. "Especially in our very dynamic market, employees require the opportunity to be creative in order to stay motivated. And that leads to success for SAS."
"We look for candidates that fit not only professionally, but also personally at SAS. That cultural fit plays a major role in long-term mutual success. The feedback from our employees, which has led again to a top ranking as Best Employer in ITC in 2014, supports our processes and confirms that we consistently challenge the norms and continue to evolve. We are thrilled about this great success, because it proves that our vision of an excellent corporate culture is lived out every day in the real world of our workplace,"said Dorothea Schwalbach, Director of Human Resources and Member of the Executive at SAS Germany.
