Scrapping 4 Inclusion – Scrapbooking Crop to Benefit The Bubel-Aiken Foundation

NewswireToday - /newswire/ - Calgary, Alberta, Canada, 02/07/2007 - The Bubel/Aiken Foundation (Clay Aiken’s charity for the inclusion of children with special needs) has approved a nationwide fundraising and awareness initiative called Scrapping 4 Inclusion.

Scrapping 4 Inclusion is an awareness and fundraising campaign where Volunteers across the USA will organize a Scrapbooking Crop in their community. This Nationwide initiative has already begun. Currently 22 US cities have Organizers in place who are actively planning their event. “We are looking for those who are involved in a scrapbooking business, those who love scrapbooking as well as anyone who is interested in simply lending a hand”. The more volunteers involved the more voices there are to raise awareness. For more information on how you can volunteer please email Laurie.

A Scrapbooking ‘Crop’ is an event where members of the community will have the opportunity to spend the day working on their photo albums, sharing new ideas and making new friends while preserving their own precious family memories. It’s no secret that scrapbooking is one of the fastest growing hobbies in North America and ‘Crops’ have become the quilting bees of the new millennium. A Scrapping 4 Inclusion event, through creating awareness and raising funds will help to create new and meaningful memories in the lives of children with and without special needs across North America.

The Bubel/Aiken Foundation was co-founded by Clay Aiken and Diane Bubel in 2003 to serve children with special needs by creating, implementing, and funding programs of inclusion in the social, educational, recreational, vocational, and community settings. By combining his history of working with children with special needs and his degree in special education, Clay has used his celebrity to further the causes of education and inclusion. Most recently September 5, 2006 it was announced that President George W. Bush intends to appoint Mr. Aiken, to be a member of the President's Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities.

About Scrapping 4 Inclusion
The mission of Scrapping 4 Inclusion is to combine one of the fastest growing hobbies in North America with the need for creating awareness and raising funds on behalf of The Bubel/Aiken Foundation. “I wanted to somehow make a difference in the lives of children through volunteer work and this is how Scrapping 4 Inclusion was started. With a personal passion for scrapbooking it just made sense for me to combine these two passions into something that can benefit everyone” says Laurie Weishar, founder of Scrapping 4 Inclusion.
