The programme, which has delivered successful outcomes around the world for more than quarter of a century, brought together managers, heads of government departments, specialists and senior officers to acquire a greater understanding of techniques to enhance efficiency, effectiveness and equity, amidst competing demands between departments and levels of management in their organisations.
Mohammed Jassim, CEO of DIHRD, said: “Local organisations must learn the best way to address the very root of the problems that constrain them from consistently delivering quality service to their customers.
“The programme focuses on four interlinked areas - the provision of optimal client services, balancing outputs with expenditures, capacity building, and establishing benchmarks for quality of service.”
PIP has proved highly effective in the Middle East since 1997, across 28 major companies, banks and government departments such as Dubai Ports Authority, Libya’s Ras Lanouf Oil and Gas Processing Company, Bahrain National Gas Company (BANAGAS), and the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, Bahrain.
The Productivity Improvement Programme was led by Dr. Akbar Jaafari, training specialist and consultant to leading regional and international companies and organizations. Jaafari holds a doctorate in management and economics from the London School of Economics.
Some of the major outcomes of the PIP methods include minimizing response time in the delivery of service, inducing and sustaining peak productivity levels in all departments and offices, encouraging employees to come up with viable ideas and suggestions to improve productivity, upgrading employees’ skills through regular seminars, workshops, and other training activities, institutionalizing cost reduction systems, and establishing feedback mechanisms for the public.
Dubai Institute for Human Resources Development was established in 2003, under the instructions of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. DIHRD is a governmental institution focusing on continuous learning and development. DIHRD partners with many European and international organizations, such as EFQM, Edexel International, Civil Service College of Singapore, and Center for Management and Policy Studies in the UK. DIHRD became an international training license center approved from the EFQM in the Arab World, to deliver EFQM self Assessment and EFQM European Assessor licenses. Its training programs explore various areas such as leadership, organizational excellence, human resources, employee personal development, processes, financial courses, customer service, and best practices.
