After extensive testing, the EXPC-1319 has demonstrated compliance with UL Class 1 Division 2, ATEX Zone 2, and the IECEx hazardous locations standards. The EXPC-1319 features a wide, basic temperature tolerance of up to 60°C and as low as -40°C when ordered with Moxa’s Intelligent Heating System (IHS). With a sealed IP66 / NEMA 4X enclosure and a flexible array of I/O options, these panel computers are perfect for data-intense industrial solutions that require rugged durability, as required by drilling and pumping platforms, outdoor HMI terminals, or refinery stations. The EXPC-1319
comes with software-selectable RS-232/422/485 serial ports alongside two Gigabit LAN ports, providing reliable serial and high speed Ethernet LAN transmissions with full network redundancy. Rugged, reliable, and flexible, the EXPC-1319 provides you a comprehensive computing solution perfectly suited to most hazardous oil & gas applications.
Unique Mixture of High Reliability, Safety, and Performance
On offshore oil drilling rigs panel computers are frequently used outdoors as HMI. The inclement weather conditions common to these environments pose dire environmental challenges that include rain, salt, snow, and sunlight. The EXPC-1319 is Moxa’s solution. EXPC-1319 panel computers are oil & gas Zone 2 certified, fanless, and feature a streamlined panel design that allows for highly efficient heat dissipation, virtually eliminating heat issues and significantly reducing maintenance costs for a much lower TCO. Second, with Moxa’s IHS heating utility, the EXPC-1319 remains operational and stable even in temperatures as low as -40°C, further reducing failures due to inclement weather. Third, the EXPC-1319’s enclosure is a totally sealed, IP66 / NEMA 4X casing, relieving any concerns that sediment, dust, or water splashes might affect the computer internals.
The EXPC-1319’s display features build upon this rugged durability, making it ideal for use as an HMI terminal, or as a secure computing platform for drilling control applications. The standard EXPC-1319 comes with a high-performance, dual core Intel 1.8 GHz Atom D525 CPU that combines lightning processing speed with low power consumption. The 1000 nits LCD panel comes with anti-glare technology to guarantee that information is presented and clearly visible even under direct sunlight. Additionally, the scratch resistant screen makes it possible for workers wearing protective gear to manipulate controls without worrying about damaging the display.
Remote Manageability for Maintenance
To help end users configure customized predictive maintenance (PdM) targets, the EXPC-1319 comes with built-in diagnostic utilities that can be configured to either respond to polled requests or deliver active alarms (traps), using both SNMP and Modbus/TCP (by request). Among other things these diagnostics may be configured to monitor and report events in the CPU (clock times), system temperature, memory usage, power voltage, and hard disk usage, to make remote monitoring and scheduled maintenance an easier job all around.
Computers that repeatedly run the same software commonly suffer system slowdowns. Re-installation or re-writing the OS image is the usual solution. To aid in this troublesome maintenance task, the EXPC-1319 is equipped with Smart Recovery™, Moxa’s intelligent system recovery software. Smart Recovery automatically rewrites the OS to its pristine post-install state, and may be configured for a variety of events according to user demands.
