On yesterday, officials said there were about a hundred cracks in taxiways, runways and tarmacs which could disrupt air traffic as damaged sections are repaired.

As the 6 months old interim and original cerficate issued by the Department of Civil Aviation is due to expire on today. Authorities despite a hard work trying to repear/fix cracks scattered on approximately among a 100,000 square meter perimeter got a "NO" for a permanent safety certificate.

Such certificate is not technically mandatory for the airport to remain open, therefore the $4 billion airport will continue to serve the public transportation.

DCA, Director General, Chaisak Angsuwan said "the lack of certification could affect International confidence in the kingdom's brand new infrastructure".

Suvarnabhumi officially opened at 3:00am on September 28, 2006, taking over all flights from Don Mueang. The first flight to arrive was Lufthansa Cargo flight LH8442 from Mumbai at 3:05am. The first commercial arrival was from Japan Airlines at 3:30am. The first passenger arrival was Aerosvit flight VV171 from Kiev at 4:30am, and the first cargo departure was Saudi Arabian Airlines flight SV-984 to Riyadh at 5:00am.

Suvarnabhumi Airport, also known as (New) Bangkok International Airport (IATA: BKK, ICAO: VTBS), (pronounced: suwanapoom) is the international airport serving Bangkok, Thailand. After numerous delays, the airport opened for limited service on 15 September 2006, and opened for all commercial flights on 28 September. The airport is the main hub for Thai Airways International, Bangkok Airways and the secondary hub for China Airlines and one of a majors hub for Air India, Cathay Pacific, Korean Air, Emirates, EVA Air, Indian Airlines, Lufthansa and SriLankan Airlines.
