In terms of sales of software and after-sales service, 2006 was a terrific year for STAR Servicios Lingüísticos. The Spanish company achieved a year on year increase in turnover of 340%.
Chief Executive Officer Michael Scholand attributes this success to several factors: “Our efforts in marketing have started to pay off”, he says. “Clients recognise the added value of our software solutions. Our after-sales service that allows users to accelerate their learning curve and rapidly increase productivity has also contributed to our success. And what’s more, clients appreciate the transparency of our products and the fact that STAR unreservedly supports compatibility with international standards like XML, TMX, MARTIFF, TBX and ODBC. More and more clients understand that our product policy protects their investment and that our after-sales service creates enormous added value.”
Extension of the product portfolio has also added to the attractiveness of STAR’s solutions. The flagship of the product armada, Transit/TermStar XV, an integrated computer assisted translation and terminology management tool, is continuously improving, attracting more and more followers. The new version of the terminology management solution for Internet/Intranets, Webterm 6.0, had an especially good run in 2006. And with the launch of its new products, STAR has found the right response to market demands: With FormatChecker, a utility for layout control and MindReader*, a support and productivity tool for technical writers, STAR has applied its philosophy of quality control and recycling of information where the life-cycle of healthy multilingual documentation springs from: intelligent content creation.
