Sonus SBC 5100 Session Border Controller
According to research firm Gartner, companies are expected to spend more than $150 billion on Cloud computing in 2013. As a result, businesses are evaluating their current application mix and looking for ways to prepare for an eventual migration to the Cloud.
The Sonus SBC 5100 which delivers 250 to 10,000 sessions on a single server will be deployed within GCSʼ New York City data center and will be the peering interface for all of GCS' dCBOX customers to secure network borders, enforce quality of service policies, traverse intermediate network address translation (NAT) and firewalls, ensure regulatory compliance, deliver the essential transcoding of media and provide codec, dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF) and fax interworking. As part of GCSʼ service model, customers who subscribe to the companyʼs Cloud-based service will be able to securely and privately configure, provision, commission and monitor the Sonus SBC 5100s for a negotiated number of sessions in conjunction with the GCS
Dynamic Management Solution.
“As GCS continued to expand its product offerings, we realized the need to add a carrier-class SBC to our Cloud/SaaS-based offerings. We wanted to work with an industry-leading SBC vendor, and our market analysis indicated that Sonus was the clear choice for this partnership. Adding Sonus SBC 5100 to the dCBOX offering is yet another way GCS provides customers with best-of-breed solutions to help them meet their business objectives,” states Jay Meranchik, chief technology officer and president, GCS. “The GCS Dynamic OSS & BSS Solution with the Sonus SBC 5100 is a powerful combination; it provides carriers with everything they need to operate in the next-generation inter-carrier voice marketplace”.
“The communications market is constantly evolving, and carriers need to stay at the forefront of technology evolution. GCS deeply understands the next-generation technologies that are shaping the future of telecommunications, and Sonus is pleased to partner with GCS as the new dBOX offer goes to market,” said David Tipping, vice president and general manager, SBC Business Unit, Sonus.
