MiX Telematics, a global provider of fleet management, driver safety and vehicle tracking solutions, is participating in the inaugural Malaysia International Bus, Truck & Components Expo 2013, being held from 13-15 June at the Malaysia International Exhibition & Convention Centre (MIECC) in Kuala Lumpur (Stand A23/A24).
“As well as highlighting the efficiency and safety benefits of our industry-leading solutions, our goal at this key event is to ignite long-term relationships with possible channel partners in the region,” says Richard Burgess, Regional Head of Sales, Asia: at MiX Telematics International.
“Having direct control over aspects like driver behaviour, as well as vehicle movement and utilisation, means operators can look forward to significant reductions in fuel and maintenance costs, while also lowering their accident rates,” says Burgess.
“To help customers achieve these benefits, we rely on our established channel partner network across the globe. We value their integral role in the sale, implementation and support of our solutions and we ensure that we’re operationally fit to provide our partners with the backing they need to deliver our solutions,” says Burgess.
“In addition to saving an average of 10% on fuel costs, our customers report significant improvements in vehicle utilisation, driver behaviour and customer service,” says Burgess. “We look forward to helping transport and logistics customers in Asia bring about sustainable results, particularly in the area of driver behaviour and road safety.”
In 2004, the World Health Organisation reported traffic injuries as the ninth most frequent cause of death, predicting that they would rise to be the fifth most frequent cause of death by 2030. “We are aware that driver and road safety is a critical issue in Malaysia. Our solutions provide proactive fleet operators with tools to improve their drivers’ behaviour and reduce accident rates,” says Burgess.
MiX Telematics customer RATP London United achieved a 17% reduction in their accident rate, along with a 10% improvement in fuel efficiency following the implementation of a customised risk reduction programme. Other customers in Asia to report equally impressive results include Chevron, Singapore Bus Service, Hong Kong Municipal Waste, China Petroleum and New Zealand Bus, for whom MiX Telematics monitors around 1,100 buses.
“Currently we manage a Software as a Service (SaaS) base of over 359 000 vehicles around the globe. This includes trucks, buses and vans across various industries such as transport & logistics, bus & coach and oil & gas. Our aim is to grow this number exponentially by collaborating with local representatives,” concludes Burgess.
The MIBTC 2013 is said to be the first of its kind to cater for the specific needs of the regional trucking, logistics and bus industries. The event will serve to gather leading manufacturers, equipment suppliers and service providers. MiX Telematics (mixtelematics.com) can be visited at Stand A23/A24 at the MIECC.
