Some kids know what they want to be when they grow up, some want to be policemen others want to be doctors or firemen and then there are some class clowns that dream about being professional comedians. In support of the kids that want to try out the comedy world, Children's Activities and Enrichment Center, Child's Play has added a new comedy class to their offerings for children ages nine to twelve.
Comedians Tony Rock (Def Comedy Jam, All of Us), Nick Thune(The Tonight Show), Finesse Mitchell (Saturday Night Live), Aries Spears (Mad TV), Ralphie May (Last Comic Standing) and many more have volunteered their time to help mentor and participate in the six-week improv/comedy class for children.
Celebrity Schedule is as Follows:
January 13, 2007- Tony Rock; January 20, 2007 - Eric Schwartz; January 27, 2007- Nadine Rajabi; February 3, 2007- Suli McCullough; February 17, 2007- Nick Thune
Kids ages 9-12 will get an introduction into the funny world of improvisation. They will be able to identify their own individual comedy voice and develop their hidden talent. Learning to write their own material and how to deliver it like a pro while also having fun and learning so much more.
The kids will be taught by personal coach Kelly Park and Celebrity guests from the comedy world. Kelly is the mother of the kid comic Sydney Park. Sydney has appeared on the hit Disney show, That’s So Raven, The Tonight Show, HBO’s Entourage, and America’s Got Talent.
Kelly Park is also an active member in The Groundlings Theatre and a Second City Alumni, who performed stand-up and sketch comedy routines across the country.
“Everyone has something special to offer – everyone” says Kelly Park. “ I encourage individualism and positive thinking by using tools that have helped me become the person I am today. With a little love, a lot of fun and a microphone, we can change the world”
“Make it to the Mic” Class fee is $350.00 with a session currently running. Scholarships are available for those who qualify. Classes run from Saturday January 13, 2007- Saturday February 17, 2007 from 12:30pm-2:30pm. There will be another session beginning March 2007.
