Newport, Gwent, United Kingdom, 2007/01/18 - Two students studying at the International Film School of Wales are causing a massive shakeup within the film industry. Their website IndywoodProject is fore fronting a revolutionary campaign that is changing the way films are made forever.
The Indywood project is the brainchild of entrepreneur movie-makers Tony Lane and Andrew Cargill. “We now have under a year to find the funding for the film, and find a cast and crew,” said Tony. “I aim to raise the money independently so that when it comes to getting it distributed it will generate enough money for us to make our second Indywood movie, and that way help bring life into the almost dead Independent film Industry here in the UK.
Their vision is to allow movie moguls from across to world to join in one place by selling exclusive one off producer squares for as little as $20. “Each and every one of our producers will have their name listed on the credits of our film as well as on IMDB.com. They will also receive a profile to promote themselves, their work and their lives which will allow for direct contact between other industry professionals registered to the project, as well as exclusive access to the Producers Lounge and an advertisement square on our homepage.” Andrew Cargill.
The project already has the backing of legendary American independent film director JR Bookwalter and top Hollywood special effects and makeup artist, Rich Knight, whose credits include hit TV series ‘The X-Files’ and the blockbuster movies, ‘X-Men 3’ and ‘Poseidon’.
Rich Knight said, "Indywood represents the future of Independent film, it’s a great resource for Indy filmmakers all over the world to showcase their work directly to the people that matter the most - the fans.” Rich is so committed to the Indywood project that he is willing to waive his Hollywood fee and do the special effects for nothing, and, as he is also an actor, will play one of the leading roles.
On top of all this they are also trying to gain the attention of Hollywood star Johnny Depp, by running an online petition accessible from the Indywood site.
