Revention’s search for a new remote support solution began with the previous solution’s inability to meet the company’s growing needs and comply with rigid security standards. “We were using pcAnywhere, and we constantly had to maintain all the required updates and modify configuration settings required for PCI compliance. We needed a solution that could keep up with security requirements,” said Jeff Doyle, CEO and President of Revention. “There were several points of failure in that tool, as well as required inbound access via a specific port that could allow for undesired entry to our systems. With a big focus on security, we needed something more secure than what we were using.”
As a vendor in the restaurant and retail industries, Revention has to stay in compliance with the regulations of both the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) and Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS). Noting again that security is a major focus for their business, Doyle said that completely complying with these industry standards is a must. “Given the recent increase in network breaches, we wanted to strengthen our security measures even further. It sealed the deal for us in terms of being as secure as possible, and no additional steps or patches were going to be required to maintain that security. Revention’s POS systems are used by many restaurants, bars and pizza delivery organizations. In addition to support, the Revention team uses Bomgar to provide remote training and guidance once their solution has been purchased. Most remote sessions are primarily used to guide new users through the software as opposed to fixing a problem, and session recordings are utilized to make quick references for common questions.
Finding a solution that could grow with the company was also important for the Revention support team. “Bomgar’s appliance-based solution was the only option that gave us the features and security we needed, and had the ability to scale with us over time.”
Another main factor that led the Revention team to choose Bomgar was the solution’s pre-built integration with Salesforce.com. Doyle explained that the company is heavily invested in Salesforce.com, and that all support sessions are started through Salesforce.
