More than 50 new service and support employees will be added when the facility opens in 2014, and the company projects that up to 175 additional employees may be needed within six years.
The building, designed by Saemisch + DiBella Architechts, Inc. of Mesa, will be erected just west of Empire’s existing parts warehouse in an area currently used for employee parking. CRC engine and power train component shops will occupy a combined space of nearly 90,000 square feet that will include 82 service bays, three dynomometers, a paint shop and employee break and locker rooms. A two-story, 25,000-square-foot office complex attached to the building’s Iron Avenue entrance will house the Empire Fluids Lab and 10 key service and support teams.

The project will necessitate building two new employee parking lots: one between the new structure and Country Club Drive, and the other east of Empire’s administrative headquarters on Iron Avenue. Both will be covered by solar electric arrays that will provide over 35% of the electricity requirements for the Mesa campus.
Porter Brothers, Inc. will be the general contractor for the CRC facility and all ancillary projects.
