Based on its recent analysis of the mobile device management market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes BlackBerry® with the 2012 Latin America Frost & Sullivan Award for Competitive Strategy Leadership. The company's Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solution, BlackBerry® Enterprise Service 10, integrates multiple platforms and operating systems. This initiative to integrate its main competitors' platforms highlights the company's focus on services rather than just hardware.
BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 enables customers to create and manage groups, manage user profiles, and provision mobile devices from a single interface, supporting and integrating iOS and Android devices with its BlackBerry smartphones and PlayBook tablets. The company designed this EMM solution to hasten and facilitate the completion of tasks.
"BlackBerry follows a very aggressive competitive strategy, leveraging its strong client base and brand awareness in the enterprise segment," said Frost & Sullivan Technology Team Leader Fernando Belfort. "The presence of large enterprises and multinational companies in its client base encourages it to leverage its up-selling strategy, offering clients end-to-end mobile solutions, including highly effective mobile device management capabilities."
In Latin America, the company focused on large enterprises, small and medium businesses (SMBs), as well as government departments to increase its installed base. The company also stood out for its pricing model, which has only one time perpetual license per device.
Most importantly, BlackBerry has addressed the challenges thrown up by the "bring your own device" (BYOD) trend, which demands that businesses ensure security of information, even in an environment characterized by multiple devices. BlackBerry's BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 is a one-stop shop for multiple platform support for faster, easier, and more organized management of these devices. BlackBerry has been working with partners to offer the product as a service, in addition to installing it as an on-premise product.
BlackBerry's smartphones are known to be the most secure in the market; BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 further solidifies this reputation. The company has an impressive position in the services space for corporate clients due to its value proposition of offering security in a timely manner.
"BlackBerry has demonstrated its ability to address the enterprise mobility needs of different verticals in Latin America," noted Belfort. "BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 provides a solution that is robust, integral, secure, easy to implement and based on a distinct payment model, underlining the company's astute competitive strategies."
Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company whose competitive strategy has yielded significant gains in market share during the research period. Often, the recognized company has taken advantage of recent market changes that facilitate the introduction of novel methods of capturing and solidifying market presence. Alternatively, it may have executed an inventive strategy within the existing competitive landscape, empowering itself to overtake the competition. The company captures the attention of the competition, which quickly adjusts in order to protect its own market position. These innovations are expected to produce lasting, precedent-setting trends in the industry.
Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis and extensive secondary research to identify best practices in the industry.
"It is an honor and privilege for BlackBerry to be the recipient of this prestigious award. Latin America is a very important market for BlackBerry and one in which we enjoy a leadership position in the enterprise segment. With BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10, we look forward to continuing to provide our customers with best-in-class solutions that meet their enterprise mobility management needs in a way that BlackBerry is uniquely positioned to deliver," said Bareck Aman, Regional Director for Enterprise Strategy & Sales in Latin America for BlackBerry.
