OneLogin, the innovator in identity management, today announced that AAA Northern California, Nevada & Utah (AAA NCNU) has selected OneLogin to provide cloud-based identity management and Active Directory integration, helping unify separate organizations within the AAA NCNU giving its 2,000 employees easier access to key information, boosting productivity and making the organization more secure.
In January 2011, AAA NCNU the second-largest AAA club in the U.S. split into two companies: an insurance carrier and the auto club. While the auto club operates independently and focuses on sales and membership services, the previously shared IT assets remain part of the insurance arm. At the same time, the auto club has taken an aggressive approach toward cloud computing that includes heavy adoption of key SaaS applications for running its subscription-based business.
With the split of the organizations, the insurance arm retained the contract for the existing single sign-on (SSO) solution, leaving the auto club without an Identity Provider (IdP). Among its requirements, AAA NCNU needed SSO for Box, Jive, ServiceNow, Workday and Salesforce.com and the ability to share a single Salesforce.com instance between the two organizations.
“OneLogin was the only enterprise identity management provider that met our complex requirements, including Workday-driven identity and provisioning, secure application sharing across two newly separated organizations, as well as real-time directory synchronization,” said Paul Gaffney, president and CEO, AAA Northern California, Nevada & Utah. “Also, the fact that they had the best end-user experience meant that we could actually improve both IT security and worker productivity in one fell swoop.”
With the OneLogin implementation, Workday becomes the system of record for users in AAA’s application infrastructure. When users are created, updated or deleted in Workday, changes are automatically detected by OneLogin, which in turn pushes the changes to Microsoft Active Directory and various cloud applications such as Box, Jive, ServiceNow and Salesforce. This automatic synchronization between Workday, AD and other cloud apps provides AAA with an automated process for on-boarding of users and an effective kill switch for off-boarding.
“Like many of our clients, AAA faced significant challenges as it moved to the cloud,” said Thomas Pedersen, founder and chief executive officer of OneLogin. “Our SSO and ability to easily integrate multiple directories were a perfect match for AAA’s needs and we’re thrilled at the results so far.”
OneLogin has over 600 customers, including Netflix, Steelcase, Pandora and PBS, and over 11 million licensed users.
