Mr. Hunter was among of a group of teachers and parents recognized for their work at district schools.
Presenting the award, district Superintendent Jose Manzo noted it was given in recognition of Mr. Hunter’s,“contribution to school and society for actively seeking out and creating plans for maximum use of time and money and the effective use of human and material resources in the school and community; and for making a significant and positive contribution to Oak Grove schools and our educational community.” Mr. Hunter has spent seven years at Taylor Elementary School overseeing implementation of technology around the school, and leading accompanying fundraising activities for the school’s PTA.
During Mr. Hunter’s time at the school, he helped build one of the first elementary school computer labs in the district, grew the number of seats in the Accelerated Reading lab, and brought document cameras and projectors into every classroom. Mr. Hunter is also the coordinator of the school’s Mouse Squad, a group of students who learn about computers and then help around the school as onsite IT support.
