- Excellent image quality and smoother, more productive workflow;
- Faster image processing;
- Allows the Trust to meet increasing service demands whilst delivering high-quality imaging;
- Different sized needle phosphor plates offer greater flexibility.

Agfa HealthCare announces that it has successfully installed its CR 30-X and five DX-G digitizers at The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The digitizers support both standard phosphor plates and needle-based detectors, providing excellent image quality for the next generation in computed radiography (CR) across a broad range of applications. With the intuitive, next-generation MUSICA² intelligent image processing software, users experience a simplified workflow that analyses the image and automatically applies the appropriate image enhancement parameters independent of the examination.

An Agfa HealthCare customer for over 25 years, The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch hospitals provide healthcare for the residents of Bournemouth, Christchurch, East Dorset and part of the New Forest with a total population of around 550,000, which rises during the summer months. In addition some specialist services cover a wider catchment area, including Poole, Purbeck and South Wiltshire.

Suitable for a broad range of applications
The Trust has purchased the Agfa HealthCare digitizers, replacing existing CR systems, for use in the main radiology department for general X-ray.

Agfa HealthCare's CR 30-X (agfa.com) is a compact, tabletop digitizer, for use where space is limited or in mobile environments, with a proven technology that offers consistent image quality.

Agfa HealthCare's DX-G digitizer supports both standard phosphor plates and needle-based detectors making it ideal for a broad range of applications. The excellent image quality and smoother, more productive workflow means that the Trust is able to process images much more quickly.

James Knowles, Superintendent Radiographer at The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch hospitals comments: "The new DX-G digitizers are significantly faster than the previous systems. This has led to a reduction in patient examination times and also more efficient use of our radiographers' time. The image quality of the needle phosphor plate and the range of available sizes means that examinations that are technically difficult on immobile patients, using a full size digital detector, are easily imaged using small cassettes but with virtually no loss of image quality."

Grant Witheridge, General Manager of Agfa HealthCare UK, comments: "I am delighted that The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is already benefiting from efficiency savings that the new digitizers are bringing both from a patient and radiographer perspective. This further demonstrates the versatility and high image quality of the Agfa HealthCare equipment to meet the needs of today's radiography departments whilst allowing hospitals to improve their imaging services to patients."
