FutureFolio, the interactive tablet magazine creation software business from Future, today unveils a new partnership with Jamie Oliver and his award-winning Jamie Magazine to bring the brand to life in a fully HD interactive edition for the iPad.
Jamie Magazine is the recipe-packed food and lifestyle magazine from Jamie Oliver. Inside each issue are enticing and achievable recipes from Jamie himself, as well as from the cream of the world’s chefs and food writers – all carefully road-tested in the Jamie Oliver test kitchens to make sure they work, time after time.
The fully HD interactive edition of Jamie Magazine brings its content to life like never before, from simply succulent food photography to its unique Interactive Cook modes, where users can walk through easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions on their iPad as they’re cooking. Alongside easily searchable recipes, the FutureFolio tablet edition takes interactivity to the next step – allowing home chefs to create personalised and emailable shopping lists direct from the recipes for meal planning and preparation – as well as providing a full range of social media share options.
Jamie Oliver says: “Launching an app of Jamie Magazine is a really exciting thing for me and something I’ve wanted to do for ages – it’s brilliantly interactive, the photography looks incredible, and there are loads of extra things we’ve been able to include to accompany the content and really bring it to life. For example, there’s a great function where you can ping your favourite recipes over to friends and there’s also a shopping list creator for when you’re out and about at the shops – it’s all really useful stuff. And there’ll be video content too, whether it’s behind the scenes stuff from our latest shoot or some travel reportage to go with our city guide stories.”
Jamie Magazine Managing Editor Paul Dring says: “We asked FutureFolio to come up with a fully interactive app, from concept to launch in just 12 weeks. As well as meeting the launch deadline, the FutureFolio team helped us every step of the way. They were always on hand to offer advice, were professional throughout while at the same time mindful of all the other things we were working on. It was of great benefit to be able to tap into their expertise and judgement on key decisions as they arose, in what is still a new and constantly changing media, they are the undisputed experts.”
Future is a world-leading tablet publisher, having sold in excess of two million editions of its brands on iPad since the launch of Apple’s Newsstand in October 2011. Leading HD interactive Future brands created with the FutureFolio software include MacLife, Total Film, videogames bible Edge and pureplay tablet brands including CyclingNews HD and Photography Week.
Matt Winwood, Head of Commercial for FutureFolio, says: “Jamie Magazine wanted a beautifully designed interactive app which made the most of their photography while fitting seamlessly within their existing workflows and resources. FutureFolio is the ideal solution. Not only has it been created by publishers for publishers, but the level of interactivity is scalable and the software really adds value for consumers, bringing a new dimension to the brand for the publishers.”
The Jamie Magazine App will be free to download and will contain a sample magazine edition. The first paid for edition hits Apple’s Newsstand today, and each subsequent monthly edition will cost £3.99. Six month subscriptions will cost £15.99, while a full year subscription will be priced at £29.99. Click here for more information.
