Walk for the Children was founded by Jay Link, of the popular band, Death and Taxes.
Jay Link, a rock singer is a very lucky man. he is still alive. In September of 1998 his father Julius Link, was killed by a speeding car, while walking to his home in Bullhead City, Arizona.
At that time Jay weighed around 250 pounds. Having always had a weight problem, Jay's fathers death sent him spiraling into many months of emotional chaos and he responded by eating excessively as many of us do. By late 2000 Jay had gained a mind numbing 300 pounds.
"My eating became my drug, I had always been drug-free and never was a drinker or a smoker, but I found myself in a very dark place and at that time only food, massive quantities of greasy fattening food would comfort me". states Jay.
Not one to mince words, Jay knew it was time to do something about the events that had taken control of his eating habits and his life, Jay started on his recovery and his path to regain control of his destiny.
Always a supporter of children's charities, Jay saw his battle with his weight as a way to help others, to help the many kids that he had come in contact with in his life and his volunteering and Walk4theChilren was born.
We invite you to join Jay on his crusade to help the many needy poverty stricken children in this country, and to join him in his up coming walk, pledge a few dollars, or give a little of you valuable time to help a child.
