• GE Oil & Gas Highlighting LNG Experience, Turbomachinery and Services Solutions;
• GE’s Power Conversion Business Showcases Leading-Edge Technologies for the Gas Industry.

Gastech brings together thousands of industry professionals for an exchange of ideas and to showcase the latest innovations, technologies and developments across the gas value chain.

GE Oil & Gas
GE Oil & Gas, a leading supplier of turbomachinery solutions for the oil and gas industry, is featuring several of its key products including CNG In A Box, which allows easier adoption of compressed natural gas refueling options; the MS 5002E gas turbine, an upgraded version of GE’s MS 5002 product line offering high efficiency, low emissions and a proven service life; and integrated compressor line (ICL) technology, a fully integrated system that incorporates a high-speed electric motor drive and a centrifugal compressor in a single sealed casing. Because it lacks a combustion engine, uses oil-free active magnetic bearings and operates within a completely sealed case, the unit produces no direct CO2 emissions and leaks no methane into the atmosphere.

GE also is highlighting its capabilities in the LNG sector, including floating LNG. The company recently announced it will supply its turbine-driven compressor train technology to Malaysia’s national oil and gas company Petronas for an FLNG facility that is being developed off the coast of Malaysia. The facility will be the first FLNG operation for Petronas and the world’s second such plant, along with Shell’s Prelude FLNG operation off Australia. GE is supporting both FLNG projects.

At Gastech, GE also announced it is providing gas compression trains for Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass liquefaction expansion project in Louisiana. This project will transform the existing Sabine Pass import terminal into the first LNG export facility constructed in North America to take advantage of recent shale gas discoveries.

Among the products featured by the GE Oil & Gas Global Services unit is Micro LNG, an integrated plant that meets the small-scale LNG requirements of powering remote industrial and residential locations; and FuelEx™, an innovative skid designed to separate heavier hydrocarbons (NGLs) from fuel gas in turbocompressor applications. The services group also is showcasing its global experience with contractual service agreements and outages, customer training, and remote monitoring and diagnostics.

GE’s Power Conversion Business
Power Conversion, a unit of GE Energy Management, is highlighting its heritage and technological edge solutions for the gas industry, including extraction, processing, transportation and storage. The business offers offshore, high-speed direct drive and transformer-less solutions; subsea solutions based on high-speed and integrated direct-drive experience; high reliability systems for compressor trains; and extensive experience in high-power systems.

In 2002 the marine unit of GE’s Power Conversion was the first company to equip a full-size LNG carrier with electric propulsion. In recent years, more and more ship owners have turned to dual-fuel engine systems combined with electric propulsion as more efficient solutions, up to 30 percent at high loads. Moreover, these solutions increase cargo capacity by 3 to 5 percent as they enable the ship designer to optimize the equipment layout.

Key technologies in GE electric propulsion solutions for LNG carriers include MV7000 converters, induction motors, transformers, generators, main and cargo switchboards and propulsion control systems. GE’s motors and converter are designed and optimized to make the propulsion systems easy to maintain. The MV7000 driven induction propulsion motors offer high levels of reliability in a compact design. GE’s global electric propulsion systems provide customers with high efficiency, availability and layout flexibility.
