A suggestion from a tech-savvy user led changmakers.com developer Matthias Wagner and lead designer Brooks Hassig to lead a collaborative effort to change the existing pagination of the changemakrs.com website, bringing about surprising results.
The success of a tech startup depends heavily on feedback from the developing user population. At the pressing suggestion of a user, Wagner and Hassig implemented an ajax feature on the changemakrs site, which increased the usability, speed and aesthetic quality of the site. With this, Wagner and Hassig watched as their user base increased by 240 percent—an all time high for the growing company.
“We feel this is a great example on how important it can be to not underestimate small improvements,” the pair said on their co-authored blog post,“speeding up our site dramatically improved engagement, and refining the interactive details of pagination transformed a mundane activity into a delightful one.”
The increase in user engagement inspired the pair, along with co-founder Sacha Tueni, to begin implementing additional changes to further improve the site’s functionality between users, with the goal of eventually creating a means of social connection between users and those that inspire them.
Founders Sacha Tueni and Matthais Wagner created Changemakrs.com on May 18, 2012, after realizing there was a huge desire for people to feel connected with those who inspire them. Changemakrs.com serves that purpose, as well as creating a network for users to collect pieces that inspire them, inspire and be inspired.
