Paris, France, 2012/09/24 - Lazard Ltd announced the creation of Lazard Africa, designed to provide financial advisory services in Africa. Lazard Africa’s activities will cover all French and English speaking countries of sub-Saharan Africa (NYSE: LAZ) - Lazard.com. NYSE: LAZ
The Lazard Africa team will be based in Paris. It will be led by Matthieu Pigasse and managed by Michèle Lamarche, in charge of government advisory activities, and Julien Riant, in charge of Lazard Africa Mergers and Acquisitions. The team will be responsible for advising African companies and sovereign entities as well as non-African parties active in Africa.
Lazard Africa will build upon the historic experience of Lazard, which has advised a large number of governments and public entities in this region over the past 20 years. This initiative comes at a time when the African continent is experiencing an unprecedented economic dynamism, with seven of the ten fastest growing economies in the world now located in Africa.
This initiative complements the worldwide organization of Lazard that has recently expanded its presence in China and Brazil, both of which are strategically focused on Africa. Lazard’s global network
