Dunkin' Donuts, the world's largest coffee and baked goods chain, is planning a major regional foray in the next one year to strategically position itself to tap the massive business potential arising out of the sizzling economic growth in the region.
Mr. David Rodgers, General Manager of Dunkin Donuts said: “The internationally renowned restaurant chain is opening more than 15 new outlets before the end of 2007 in order to increase its retail network and brand visibility. We have seen the growth path the region has launched itself into and we would like to participate and support in the region’s development.”
According to the IMF, the UAE alone is expected to register 11.5 per cent growth this year. With oil prices expected to stay around US$60 a barrel, revenues are estimated to continue flowing at a very healthy level providing huge liquidity in the country and the whole region.
Dunkin’ Donuts has been present in the region for more than 10 years registered a year-on-year growth of more than 25% for the year 2004. Growth still higher last year (2005), was estimated to be around 35%.
“Such growth rates were possible because Dunkin’ Donuts was able to identify the locations that offered growth opportunities long before its competitors. This has kept the company in a highly advantageous position so far.”
Not the one to sit on its laurels, Dunkin’ Donuts has now launched a region-wide expansion programme that will see a total of 15 new outlets within a year. This will make the total number of Dunkin’ Donuts outlets to 50 in the UAE so far.
The planned regional foray will strategically prepare Dunkin' Donuts for the next stage of aggressive growth in the coming years. These new outlets will offer a product range that includes 52 varieties of donuts and more than a dozen coffee beverages as well as an array of other baked goods.
Dunkin' Donuts uses 100% Arabica coffee beans and has its own coffee specifications, which are recognized by the industry as a superior grade of coffee. Based on Dunkin' Donuts Quality (DDQ) specifications, coffee is milled and processed specifically for the company.
