At this year's AMB m&h is exhibiting four new products. Three new tool setters and a new touch probe for part measurement strengthen the position of the company as a supplier of a full range of products and services in the field of measuring on the machine.
Compact m&h Laser Tool Setter LTS35.65-23
The launch of the new Laser Tool Setter LTS35.65-23 means m&h can offer a particularly small instrument designed specifically for use in machines with a limited footprint, such as those used in dentistry. The new addition allows m&h keeps pace with the increasing demand for compact yet process-reliable laser tool setter. With an accuracy of 0.2 µm, the instrument can reliably measure lengths and radii on parts with a minimum diameter of 0.025 mm. The air nozzle for tools that featured on earlier m&h lasers is also integrated into this small model. The nozzle ensures that the actual cutting edge of the tool is measured rather than any adhering chips or dirt. As with the larger models, during development of the LTS35.65-23 the focus centred on the robustness and process-reliability of the system. A sealing performance complying with IP68 standard, an air curtain and securely closing optics are just some of the features.
m&h Tool Setter TS35.20 for lengths and radii
m&h is introducing two further contact measuring systems for parts measurement at the AMB. They are installed in the conventional way, fixed to the table in the machine, and send their signals by cable to the control unit. This simple tool setter is particularly suitable for users in Asia and South America who are increasingly looking for cost-effective yet reliable tool setters. The focus during development of the system was on achieving economy without compromising robustness, precision and user-friendliness. TS35.20 measures lengths and radii of tools from a minimum diameter of 0.5 mm with a repeatability of 1 µm. The new tool setter offers a cost-effective alternative to the established TS35.10 model.
m&h Tool Setter TS35.30 for lengths and radii
With the Tool Setter TS35.30, users can measure exclusively tool lengths and tool breakages, especially with drills. The low deflection force of 2.2 Nm allows the user to measure tools with a diameter as small as 0.1 mm. The system accuracy is 0.5 µm. Measuring times are minimised thanks to speeds of up to 3m/min. This system excels through its high performance combined with extremely low cost. TS35.30 ensures production complies with the requirements and prevents consequential damage resulting from tool measurement errors or broken cutters.
m&h Infrared Touch Probe IRP40.40-LF with constant, low trigger forces
Another newcomer to the m&h portfolio is Touch Probe IRP40.40-LF with infrared transmission impresses everyone, especially with its low trigger forces. The special probe is suitable for users who have to measure ever-thinner structures or relatively soft surfaces. Thanks to low trigger force, this probe leaves no tracks or impressions on the surfaces. Compared to systems from other manufacturers, the trigger force of the IRP40.40-LF remains at a constant low level irrespective of the probing velocity. This achieves minimal measuring times and avoids the probe causing damage to particularly sensitive parts. The probe can be used with styli with tip diameters of 0.2 mm. It is outstandingly suitable for measuring particularly small and narrow part shapes and radii. The touch probe has an accuracy of 1 µm for trigger forces of 0.8 N in the Z axis and 0.08 N in the X/Y axes.
m&h Inprocess Messtechnik
m&h probes (mh-inprocess.com) are used to measure parts on milling machines, machining centres, lathes, turning-milling centres, grinding machines, special machines and robots. For small batches or medium to mass series production, parts can be aligned and their geometries checked while still in the machine.
Probes make everyday work easier, reduce manufacturing times and costs, and open up the full possibilities of modern machines.
