Los Angeles, CA, United States, 12/07/2006 - The Boston area’s hottest DJ, Infrared DJ Scope, has been honored with three nominations at the 2007 Southern Entertainment Awards, including Rap Mixtape of the Year, R&B Mixtape of the Year, and Reggae Mixtape of the Year.

This is just one of many accolades the Massachusetts native has garnered in the past few months. Recently, Scope became the newest edition to legendary New York DJ team, KaySlay’s “Street Sweepers,” and, in September, he received the prestigious distinction of being named BigCratez.com’s Mixtape DJ of the Month. All of these recognitions just reinforce what many on the East Coast already know: Scope is going to blow up, and soon.
Scope has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Eminem, P. Diddy, Fat Joe, Foxy Brown, Jay-Z, RedMan, Keith Murray, Lox, Mobb Deep, Big Pun, and Juelz Santana, but maintains true to his East Coast roots. He started his career by throwing house parties in his hometown as a teen. A music aficionado from an early age, Scope would record mixshows off the radio and play them for his friends, sparking a young interest in DJing. He got his first big break in 1993 when he was asked to spin at the premiere college radio station, American International College’s 91.9 WAIC.
In 1995, Scope took his nearly perfected skills to another popular radio station, 89.9FM WSCB, where he stayed for another two years. While continuing to make a name for himself as a DJ, Scope opened his first sound scan record store, called “Scope Spot.” Following its success, he opened two more location over the next three years. As he nurtured his entrepreneurial spirit, his DJ career started to boom. He became the official DJ for two of the University of Massachusetts’ biggest parties while balancing frequent nightclub, concert, and radio appearances on the East Coast, Puerto Rico, and overseas.
The Southern Entertainment Awards is an annual awards show dedicated to honoring those who have helped southern music grow during that previous year. The show was started in 2004 with over 700 attendees. In 2005 and 2006, those numbers grew to exceed one thousand and this year they expect 2,500 people in attendance. The show promotes southern musicians and is backed by more than 400 DJs and 200 record labels. Previous nominees include Chamillionaire and The Game’s DJ Skee.
Infrared DJ Scope is poised to take the nation by storm, just as he has the East Coast. He knows how to play the game, and there is no doubt that, with his momentum and talent, more awards and nominations are in his future.
