Moxa is proud to announce the premiere and release of the newest video showcase of Moxa’s high-speed field test of Turbo Roaming. This video takes you to the site of Moxa’s Turbo Roaming field test with our team of engineers to see how Moxa’s wireless access points and clients can achieve latency-free roaming while traveling at high speeds. In this video, you’ll see the actual roaming test performed by using Moxa’s newest WLAN client, the AWK-1121, as the roaming client and Moxa’s IEEE 802.11 a/b/g single RF wireless access point, the AWK-3121, as the wayside APs. You will also be able to compare the actual video footage taken directly from the roaming vehicle with the video being transmitted to the wayside control center to see Moxa’s Turbo Roaming technology at work.

Sub 100 ms Turbo Roaming
With the rise in number of latency-sensitive, real-time streaming applications such as voice over WLAN (VoWLAN), zero-latency roaming has become an extremely crucial factor as WLAN networks are now required to maintain virtually uninterrupted communications between the moving WLAN client and wayside access points with seamless handover.

In a roaming system, the WLAN client will move between two or more wayside wireless access points (AP). When the WLAN client is moving away from the current AP and detects a diminishing Wi-Fi connection, the client will immediately search for an alternative Wi-Fi signal from another AP. The velocity of the WLAN client as it jumps from one AP connection to another is extremely critical in determining roaming performance. Typically, WLAN clients may experience a few seconds of network interruption when roaming from one AP to another. However, with Moxa’s Turbo Roaming feature, handovers are executed in under 100 ms to provide the high-performance seamless roaming demanded by wireless applications with virtually zero tolerance for latency. With Turbo Roaming to give sub-100 ms handoffs, redundant power inputs, and models that operate in temperatures ranging from -40 to 75°C, Moxa’s WLAN APs and clients promise to provide you with the highest level of reliability and availability for wireless communications.
